Policy
Environmental Responsibility & Green Policy
1. Policy Statement
ManaKnight Digital Inc. ("ManaKnight Digital") recognizes that climate change and environmental degradation pose significant risks to our society, economy, and future. As a digital services company, we acknowledge that even technology businesses have a measurable environmental footprint through energy consumption, electronic waste, supply chain emissions, and office operations.
This Formal Environmental Responsibility and Green Policy establish our commitment to continuously reducing that footprint, promoting sustainable practices across our operations, and supporting a transition to a low-carbon digital economy.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All ManaKnight Digital employees, contractors, and officers
- All physical office locations operated or leased by ManaKnight Digital
- All digital infrastructure, cloud services, and technology assets operated by ManaKnight Digital
- Procurement and supply chain decisions made on behalf of ManaKnight Digital
3. Environmental Principles
ManaKnight Digital's environmental strategy is guided by the following principles:
3.1 Reduce First
We prioritize reducing consumption before seeking offsetting or mitigation strategies. This means evaluating necessity, efficiency, and alternatives before acquiring new resources or technologies.
3.2 Sustainable Technology Choices
When selecting cloud platforms, hosting providers, SaaS tools, and hardware vendors, environmental performance is a decision criterion. We prioritize vendors with credible net-zero commitments, renewable energy usage, and published sustainability reporting.
3.3 Continuous Improvement
We commit to setting measurable environmental targets, tracking our progress annually, and improving our performance year over year.
3.4 Transparency
We will report on our environmental performance honestly and make this information available to clients and stakeholders upon request.
4. Key Environmental Commitments
4.1 Energy and Carbon
- Measure and track our estimated carbon footprint from digital operations and office energy annually
- Select cloud and hosting providers that operate on or are transitioning to 100% renewable energy (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure's sustainability tiers)
- Ensure office spaces use energy-efficient lighting, HVAC, and equipment
- Enable power management settings on all company devices
- Explore carbon offset programs as a complementary measure (not a substitute for reduction)
4.2 Paper and Waste Reduction
- Operate as a digital-first organization; minimize printing across all operations
- Where printing is necessary, use double-sided printing and recycled paper
- Eliminate single-use plastics from company-provided office supplies and events
- Provide clearly labelled recycling and composting receptacles in all office locations
4.3 Electronic Waste (E-Waste)
- Extend the lifecycle of hardware through maintenance, repair, and responsible reuse
- Donate or responsibly resell functional hardware before considering disposal
- Dispose of all electronic waste exclusively through certified e-waste recyclers
- Maintain a log of disposed hardware and recycling certificates
4.4 Remote Work and Travel
- Support and encourage flexible remote work arrangements to reduce commuting emissions
- Prioritize video conferencing over business travel wherever operationally feasible
- When travel is required, prefer rail over air for distances under 500 km
- Track and report employee business travel emissions annually
4.5 Procurement
- Evaluate environmental certifications (Energy Star, EPEAT, TCO Certified) when procuring hardware
- Prefer suppliers and vendors with documented environmental policies
- Include environmental criteria in vendor evaluation frameworks
5. Environmental Targets
ManaKnight Digital has established the following baseline targets, to be reviewed and updated annually:
| Focus Area | Target | Measurement Method |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud Infrastructure | 100% renewable-powered providers by 2026 | Provider sustainability reports |

- Notable initiatives or achievements
This policy will be reviewed annually and updated to reflect changes in our operations, applicable regulations, or stakeholder expectations.

ManaKnight Digital will comply with all applicable environmental legislation and regulations in the jurisdictions where it operates.
